Bonaire Youth Slalom PWA World Cup

Initially, the forecast for the 2024 Bonaire Youth Slalom PWA World Cup didn’t look too promising, however, thankfully the wind gods were on our side, which allowed 15 eliminations to be completed across three days of action packed competition.

Girl’s 

Bobbi-Lynn De Jong (Starboard / NeilPryde) won the opening event of the season in Aruba earlier last month and the 14-year-old continued her perfect start to the season here in Bonaire with an almost faultless performance, which saw her win 14 of the 15 eliminations completed. 

Bobbi-Lynn’s closest challenger was her sister Kit De Jong (Starboard / NeilPryde), who wins the U15’s ahead of her twin, Lone De Jong (Starboard / NeilPryde), who finished fourth in the overall rankings just behind Louise van der Meulen, who completes the podium and wins the U21’s.

Boy’s

Just like Bobbi-Lynn De Jong, Brendan Lorho (FMX Racing / Point-7) also completes an early season double with the young Frenchman producing another excellent performance. Lorho wasn’t quite as clinical as Bobbi-Lynn, but he still managed to win 12 of the 15 eliminations completed, which sees him also finish the event with a perfect score sheet as he discards his other second place finishes. 

Lorho wins the event, and the U21’s division, ahead of local Bimbi Clappers. Meanwhile, the overall podium is completed by another local - Tycho Smits (Future Fly / NeilPryde) - who wins the U17’s fleet ahead of Storm Nicolai (Starboard / Duotone).

In the U13’s and U15’s divisions, Arxon Gomperts came out on top in the U15’s - also finishing the event with a perfect score sheet, while Joëy Ross claims the U13’s victory ahead of Tobi Korver and Julien Blom.
