Tenerife PWA World Cup

Day 1: Registered, Rigged & Ready Plus a Brief Introduction of Youth’s

The opening day of the 2019 Tenerife PWA World Cup saw a quiet start to proceedings with light winds and only a short sweet spot of waves, so after the registration in the morning, there was a brief window of opportunity to complete a few Youth’s heats.

Youth’s

Girl’s U15s

Alexia Kiefer Quintana (Fanatic / Duotone) claimed a clearcut victory in the opening Girl’s U15s division after linking together a 7 point wave and a 4 point forward to defeat Lisa Wermeister (Duotone), María Morales (Goya Windsurfing) and Lina Eržen (Flikka / Duotone).

Girl’s U17s

Julia Pasquale (Fanatic / Duotone) looked to be in excellent form in her opening heat of the week as she linked together several stylish waves to deservedly win the U17s ahead of Mar de Arce (Star-Fish / Loftsails), Ines Arija (Flikka / Severne) and Lina Thekook (Patrik / GA Sails).

A couple of attempts were made to run the Girl’s U20s, but on both occasions the wind dropped and it had to be cancelled.

Boy’s U13s

Carlos Kiefer Quintana (Fanatic / Duotone) came out on top against Val Eržen (Flikka / Duotone) in the opening U13s battle of the week with the young German making the better of the tricky conditions.

Boy’s U15s

Tobias Bjørnaa (Fanatic / Duotone) produced one of the highlights of the day as he landed the only backloop to deservedly win the first heat in the U15s ahead of Giulio Gasperini (Starboard / Severne) and Carlos Kiefer Quintana, while Hayata Ishii (RRD / Goya Windsurfing) claimed victory in Heat 2 ahead of Elliot Foveau (Starboard / Severne) and Pepe Krause (Quatro / Hot Sails Maui).

The forecast looks quite similar as today for tomorrow and the skippers’ meeting will be held at 10:30am (GMT+1) tomorrow morning with a first possible start at 11am.
