2001 spark7.com Windsurfing World Cup Neusiedler See Day 6

" ......... it’s a beautiful day ......!" like U2 sang and indeed it was a beautiful, warm and sunny day, but still no wind! There were some light south-easterly winds like the previous day, just enough to start the Formula Windsurfing Race, but definitely not strong enough for the main event – the SPARK7.COM Freestyle Grand Prix.

Although it was a so called "window day" today there were a lot of visitors showing up still enjoying the beginning of the summertime. Tonight there will be the closing ceremony in the big party tent and they're expecting a lot of people as there is a holiday tomorrow, it will go off again!!

Despite the lack of wind, the sponsors are still more than happy with the event.
Robert Weinfurter (Quiksilver Austria and one of the sponsors):
"We're very satisfied with the result of this event. It`s a big pity that there was no wind and therefore no competition but to be honest it's better to have nice weather, no wind and many visitors instead of 5°C, strong winds and no spectators!! But I hope that we get a combination of good weather and strong winds for next years event!!!

Todays program was very sweet again and of course the Quiksilver Splash Pipe Contest was the main attraction. This time a number of male and female competitors were doing their equal best to win the prize. As for the girls there were names out of the snowboard- and windsurfing world tour showing up doing a great job but still not innovative enough to fight the other "crazy Austrians". One judge was out of the Main sponsors group The SPARK7.COM and he was amazed.
Dieter:
"I've never seen something like this before but it's the best .......!!!

Tonights closing ceremony will show no prize giving but for sure a lot of fun!
